What better day than today, World Environment Day 2026, to share our latest Environmental Report?
Across the last year, we've made some remarkable steps in reducing our carbon emissions and improving sustainability, whilst continuing to deliver the very best music therapy services to individuals and communities across the country. Our latest report - compiled by Jim, our marvellous Environment and Sustainability Lead - details Chiltern Music Therapy's many notable improvements.
Our carbon footprint has decreased by almost 40% since our baseline in 2022/23, reducing petrol car usage by over 50% and dropping nearly 30,000 miles of travel with our continued advancement of digital and online music therapy sessions. Introducing expense claims for bicycle travel has also inspired our team, resulting in over 700 miles of bicycle travel this year. Leg day every day for a greener future, why not?!
We've also moved much of our invested money into more ethical and sustainable banks via bank.green, and have begun work on our Digital Carbon Footprint, having our website accredited as ‘Carbon-Conscious’ by the Eco-Friendly Web Alliance, training staff in reducing the environmental impact of email use, and introducing restrictions in our AI policy. We recognise that every click counts!
