Help Us Bring Joy to Communities This Christmas

Our community groups bring people together through the shared joy of music, helping people connect, build confidence, and feel less alone.

This Christmas, we’re asking for your help to make sure these groups can keep running, so that everyone has access to a welcoming, inclusive space filled with laughter, connection and song.

Turning Christmas music into community joy

From festive tunes in the shops to carols on the radio, music is everywhere at this time of year.

We’re inviting you to join in the fun,  every time you hum, sing or hear a Christmas song, make a small donation to Chiltern to help keep our community groups running.

How many times have you heard Jingle Bells this week? Or Wham's Last Christmas?

Give £1 for every time you’ve heard it!

Why your support matters

Our community group members pay a small contribution to attend, but this doesn’t cover the full cost of running the groups.

Behind each session are the hidden costs; room hire, instruments, travel, and the time our practitioners give to plan and support group members.

Your donation helps to bridge this gap, ensuring our groups can continue to bring joy, connection and belonging to communities across the region.

David’s Story: Finding Connection, Comfort and Love Through Music

When David* first joined our Safe in Sound Dementia Group, his dementia was progressing quickly, and moments of clarity were becoming harder to hold onto. But every week, without fail, he remembered the music.

For David and his wife, the group became far more than a weekly activity. It became a lifeline. During a recent conversation, she shared that Safe in Sound “should really be called the SOS group” because it was the one place where David truly connected, engaged and came alive.

Music unlocked the parts of him that dementia was trying to take away. It brought back his humour, his warmth, and the joy they had always shared together. One of the most powerful moments came during Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, when David, whose speech had become increasingly limited, was able to sing the words “love me” a brief but deeply meaningful reminder of their bond.

After David sadly passed away, his wife made a lovely decision to return to the Safe in Sound group as a volunteer, wanting to support other partners walking a similar path and to give back to the community that had held them so gently.

Gareth, the Music Therapist who led the group, reflects:

“It’s wonderful that we can provide a local service that gives people meaningful moments right to the end, moments that help with connection, love and even the bereavement process. Music can be incredibly beautiful at times like these.”

David’s story reminds us why music matters and why keeping our Community Groups running is so important.
