Ruby

Ruby was referred for music therapy to support with her well-being and communication as part of her EHCP. Ruby is autistic alongside other diagnoses including anxiety. She was having a lot of difficulty transitioning to different rooms and engaging in class activities but she loved music.

Initially, in sessions she covered her face and found it hard to go between rooms where they did music therapy, however over time she showed an increasing ability to engage and interact with her Music Therapist and really enjoyed singing in particular.

In the last few weeks of term, they spent time singing a song about going to college with pictures of the new rooms she would be in. She stayed very close to the Therapist and helped to play and sing the song on the guitar.
Ruby was also reported to sing the goodbye song on the bus home after a visit to the college!
