Lucy

Lucy is a brave 3-year-old who survived a serious road accident, suffering a traumatic brain injury along with other critical injuries.

When our Music Therapist, Natasha, first met her on the paediatric acute ward, Lucy was in the early stages of recovery, gradually emerging from an unconscious state. Through gentle musical and tactile stimulation—using voice, vibrotactile drums, and guitar—the therapist carefully observed and responded to even the smallest signs of engagement.

Weekly joint sessions with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists supported Lucy’s rehabilitation goals, while individual sessions gave her space to explore, express, and connect emotionally.

As her physical and communication abilities improved, so did her confidence—her amazing personality shone through! Drumming, shaking, singing, and especially the wind chimes became a source of joy and motivation, helping her regain strength and reconnect with the things she loved.
