Overview:
An up-to-date look at autism and ADHD, presented by neurodivergent Music Therapists sharing their lived experience and breaking down myths and stereotypes.
Participants will learn:
Some of the lesser known and misunderstood experiences and traits of autism and ADHD
An introduction to the neurodiversity movement and working within a neurodiversity affirming approach
How autism and ADHD presents differently for people assigned female at birth and why women, girls and non-binary people are often misdiagnosed
An introduction to selective mutism and hyperlexia
Exploring issues around language, labels and neurodiversity
A chance to explore clinical scenarios and approaches

About our trainers:
Alice Nicholls (they/she) is a Neurologic Music Therapist and Clinical Supervisor working with adults and children with brain injury and developmental disabilities. They also work with trans and non-binary adults exploring the connections between voice and identity. Alice was diagnosed with ADHD in February 2020 and is self-diagnosed autistic, and is still figuring out her brain.
