Music therapy group for people living with dementia and their carers.

Safe in Sound is a music therapy group for adults living with dementia and the people who support them. Together, you’ll share songs, stories and moments of joy in a safe, welcoming and friendly space.

Led by our Music Therapist, Gareth, each session uses music-making and improvisation to support self-expression and communication. Music can spark memories, strengthen relationships and nurture a sense of identity, even when words feel harder to find.

Carers are warmly welcomed and actively involved as part of the group experience. Whether you come as a pair or alongside others in a similar situation, you’ll be supported to connect in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

What to expect

  • Music-making for self-expression and communication
  • Instrumental improvisation and familiar songs
  • A friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere
  • Time for tea, coffee and conversation

There’s no need to have any musical experience, just come as you are.

Stay for a chat and refreshments after the session, and enjoy time together in a relaxed and supportive environment.
