On Monday 6th July, we were delighted to welcome performers, families, carers, professionals and members of our local community to our annual Community Voices event at The White Hill Centre in Chesham. What a wonderful afternoon it was celebrating the power of singing in a room together!
Bringing together our community groups, including Silver Singers, Let's Sing, Waterside Singers and Safe in Sound, alongside choirs connected to Chiltern, the afternoon was a wonderful celebration of music and creativity. The room was filled with familiar songs, shared laughter and moments of real connection, reminding us all of the unique way music can bring people together.
Our Community Voices afternoon is about far more than a performance. It is an opportunity for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to experience the benefits of singing in a welcoming, inclusive environment. From regular members of our community groups to first time visitors, everyone was invited to share in the experience and join in as much or as little as they wished.
After the music, guests stayed to enjoy refreshments, conversations and the chance to meet others from across our local community. It was lovely to welcome representatives from a wide range of organisations and supporters, including the Rothschild Foundation, the Douglas McMinn Centre, the Chiltern Centre, the Epilepsy Society, the Mayor of Chesham Parveiz Aslam MBE, support workers, former team members, family members and carers. The afternoon also sparked new conversations, with attendees enquiring about groups including Silver Singers and our High Wycombe Jamming Group, helping us continue to reach more people who could benefit from making music together.
Events like Community Voices demonstrate the strength of partnership working within our community. By bringing together individuals, families, charities, local organisations and supporters, we can create opportunities for new friendships, increased understanding and a greater awareness of the role music can play in supporting wellbeing.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended, volunteered and supported our event. Your enthusiasm, encouragement and willingness to sing together made the afternoon such a wonderful occasion.
We are incredibly proud of our community groups and grateful to everyone who continues to help them flourish. We are already looking forward to welcoming even more people to our Community Voices event next year. If you’d like to find out more or come along next year, why not join our newsletter here to be the first in the know?
Until then, thank you for helping us celebrate the voices, stories and connections that make our community so special.
