Launch of our online learning platform - Learning Space

Introducing Chiltern Online - Learning Space

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a growing interest in how music can support people’s wellbeing in schools, hospitals, care homes, and family homes too. At the same time, we know that time, travel, and resources can make it hard for professionals and families to access training.

So, as part of our new Chiltern Online initiative, we’ve created the Learning Space - a way to share our experience and learning more widely, making music therapy knowledge flexible, inclusive, and easy to access.

A new way to learn about the power of music

The Learning Space is an online platform bringing together courses and resources for anyone interested in how music can support communication, connection, and wellbeing.

It’s for Music Therapists, Arts in Health practitioners, and professionals across healthcare, education, and community settings who want to deepen their practice - and for families and carers who want to explore how music might help the people they support.

All of the content has been created by practising music therapists, grounded in real experience from work across a variety of settings.

"So much of our work is about opening up possibilities through music - helping people find connection, confidence, or a new way forward. The Learning Space grew from a wish to extend that reach: to share our knowledge more widely and empower others to bring those moments of change into their own settings." - Izzy Hall, Training Coordinator at Chiltern

What's inside

The Learning Space launches with a growing range of online courses and resources, with new additions planned each month:

Music therapy can:

  • Free introductory courses for schools, care homes, allied health professionals, and families - a great starting point for exploring the benefits of music therapy.
  • Professional CPD courses (2-3 hours, £40/45) on topics such as Measuring Impact in Music Therapy, Sensory Processing, Neurodiversity in Music Education, Music Tech Toolkit, and Music in Dementia Care for Care Professions,
  • Specialist packs and toolkits, such as our Care Homes Resource Pack

Each course is self-paced and designed to be practical, reflective, and accessible from anywhere.

Why it matters

As therapists, we see every day how music can open up communication, lift mood, and create connection. But we also know that those moments don’t only happen in therapy sessions…they can happen in classrooms, care homes, hospital wards, or living rooms.

Chiltern Online - Learning Space helps bridge that gap. It offers a way for more people to learn how music therapy approaches can make a difference in the settings where they work and live.

It also reflects the Chiltern value of ‘Share’: finding new ways to open up our learning, experiences, and stories so that more people can benefit from them.

Explore the Learning Space

You can visit the Learning Space directly at chiltern.learnworlds.com, or through our website at chilternmusictherapy.co.uk/learning-resources/online-courses-resources.

You’re welcome to start with one of the free introductory courses, or explore our professional CPD options - and be part of a growing community learning about the power of music in care, therapy, and everyday life.
