In December, our Christmas campaign Bringing Joy to Communities brought people together in an incredible way - raising £1285.75 to support our community music therapy groups.
These groups exist to create connection, belonging, and emotional support for people who might otherwise feel isolated, from those experiencing mental health challenges to children and families navigating difficult circumstances.
Already, that support is making a real difference.
We've recently launched a new jamming group in Chesham, offering a welcoming space for people experiencing mental health challenges to come together through music. Across our other community groups, sessions continue to thrive - full of shared music-making, laughter, and connection. Planning is also underway for this summer’s Community Voices event, bringing groups together to celebrate music and community (with a date to be announced soon).
Support from the campaign has also enabled music sessions for children living in a local refuge, creating a safe and creative space for those who have experienced trauma. Through music, children have been able to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others. Every child reported feeling happier after sessions, with clear improvements in emotional wellbeing and social interaction .
Alongside this, some new instruments have been purchased to support sessions across our groups. We're always striving to keep music-making accessible, engaging, and inclusive for everyone involved.
As part of the campaign, supporters were also given complimentary access to our festive songbook on our Learning Space. We hope this brought moments of connection, comfort, and celebration to you and your community.
This is what Bringing Joy to Communities makes possible: Not just moments of music, but lasting connection, confidence, and resilience.
