Partnership with Vache Baroque
We’re delighted to share the news of a brand-new partnership with Vache Baroque, coming together to harness the power of music to enhance wellbeing, creativity and connection across the local community.
As part of this exciting collaboration, our Music Therapists will be working with five local settings to deliver a series of engaging, therapeutic workshops leading up to a live performance at The Vache, Chalfont St Giles, on Sunday 7 September 2025.
Each session will see one of our Music Therapists joined by a Vache Baroque musician working side by side with residents to explore the timeless and emotionally rich themes of the Orpheus myth, a story at the heart of Vache Baroque’s 2025 summer opera, Le Carnaval de Venise by André Campra.
The workshops will be tailored to the specific needs of each group, creating a space where participants can engage with music in a way that feels meaningful and empowering. The culmination of this project will be a collaborative performance, celebrating not just the music, but the voices and experiences of all involved.
This project is a unique opportunity to showcase how high-quality, live music-making can positively impact health, wellbeing and give a sense of belonging particularly for those who may face barriers to accessing traditional arts experiences.
Rosie Axon, Founder of Chiltern Music Therapy said: "Collaborations are a key part of Chiltern's ethos and being able to partner with the incredible Vache Barqoue on this special project has been amazing. Through our work with older people in the community and with care homes, we understand how much people's access to high-quality musical engagement or Music Therapy is restricted once someone moves into residential care. This project is a wonderful way for us to look at how combining these elements of musical performance and music therapy can support people both in their quality of life, but also in their well-being and purpose as well. We are connecting essential elements of community, music and care to both residents and staff in care homes and can't wait to see what the future holds for this type of work!"
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Denham, Gerrards Cross & Chalfonts Community Board, the Amersham & Villages Community Board, and The Clare Foundation for their generous support in making this project possible.
Stay tuned for more updates as this inspiring journey unfolds—and we look forward to welcoming you to The Vache in September for what promises to be a beautiful and moving celebration of community through music.
