Reflecting on Learner Feedback from Our Learning Space

Six months on from launching our Learning Space, we reflect on learner feedback and what it’s telling us about how the courses are being used in practice.

April 20, 2026

Six months ago, we launched our Learning Space - a collection of online courses and resources designed to support people to engage with music in therapeutic and meaningful ways.

Since then, it’s been very encouraging to see people engaging with the courses, and we’ve been taking some time to reflect on the feedback we’ve received so far. It’s given us a helpful sense of what’s landing well, and how people are using the courses in their day-to-day work and lives.

Clarity and accessibility

One of the things that’s come through most strongly is how important it is for the content to feel clear and easy to follow. Many learners are fitting the courses around busy roles, so being able to dip in and out matters.

People have described the courses as “clearly laid out and accessible”, and have appreciated the way the content is broken down into manageable sections, with a steady pace and a consistent voice guiding them through.

Practical and relevant

Another strong theme is the practical focus of the courses. Learners often tell us that they’re looking for ideas they can actually use - not just theory, but something they can take back into their setting. As one learner shared:

“Dense with useful practical information. There’s no ‘fluff’ or waste.” (Measuring Impact in Music Therapy course)

That sense of the content being purposeful and relevant, without feeling overwhelming, is something we’re keen to hold onto as we continue to develop the platform.

Depth without overcomplication

We’ve also been pleased to see that learners are engaging with the range of tools and approaches shared. One piece of feedback described:

“The strength is the clarity of the contents and the multiplicity of the tools presented.” (Music Tech Toolkit course)

There’s always a balance to strike between offering enough depth and keeping things accessible, and it’s helpful to see that reflected in how people are experiencing the courses.

Across our paid courses, the average rating currently sits at 9.3 out of 10, which suggests that this balance is working well for many learners.

A helpful starting point

Our free introductory courses seem to be working well as a starting point for people who are newer to music therapy, or who want a clearer sense of what it involves.

Recent feedback shows an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on learner evaluations. More importantly, people often describe them as informative, clear, and a useful introduction to the field.

For example, one learner reflected:

“Really enjoyed this. Gave me a lot to think about. The case studies were very helpful and the first one is very similar to a situation I currently deal with in school.” (Why Music Therapy? An Introduction for Schools mini course)

Continuing to learn and develop

As with all our work, feedback plays an important role in how we move forward. It helps us to keep the content grounded in real practice and to think carefully about what people need. We’ll continue to develop the Learning Space over time, building on what we’ve learned so far and responding to the needs of the people using it.
